Terms of Service.

1. Scope of Services

Joind Design Studio agrees to provide the following design services to the client:

  • Design of Joinery: Including but not limited to kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, cabinetry, storage solutions and other residential spaces.

  • Deliverables: 2D plans (rendered via SketchUp), elevations, material specifications, appliance and fixture recommendations, finishes schedule.

  • Revisions: Three (3) rounds of revisions to the design.

2. Client Responsibilities

To enable Joind Design Studio to provide its services, the client agrees to:

  • Provide a floor plan or rough sketch with accurate measurements, ceiling heights, window placement and any other relevant details.

  • Specify appliance choices or provide model numbers for purchased appliances, or preferences for new purchases.

  • Agree to a budget range for materials, finishes and overall design.

  • Provide access to any relevant information such as lighting preferenceshardware selections or material requirements.

  • Respond promptly to communications regarding the design process.

3. Accuracy of Site Measurements

All site measurements are the responsibility of the builder, cabinet maker, or relevant tradesperson. While Joind Design Studio can offer a site measure if required, our designs are created based on the dimensions and information provided at the time of engagement. We are not liable for any discrepancies, variations, or issues that arise from inaccurate, outdated, or incorrect measurements. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure all final dimensions are verified on site prior to construction or installation.

4. Timeline

  • Initial Design: The first draft of designs will be provided within 1–3 weeks from receiving all required information from the client.

  • Revisions: The client is entitled to three (3) rounds of revisions, which will be completed within 7–10 business days per revision round.

  • Final Design: The final design will be delivered within 1 week after the final revision is approved.

5. Payment Terms

Payment will be structured as follows:

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is due upon signing this contract to commence work.

  • Balance: The remaining 50% is due upon delivery of the final design package.

  • All payments must be made via bank transfer. Payment details will be provided on the invoice.

Additional Work and Revisions

For concept designs, three rounds of revisions are included in the initial scope. A single revision to each item selected is provided without further charge. Any changes to the client's brief requiring rework, or any additional design services conducted outside the three included revisions, will be billed at a rate of $150 per hour (inc. GST).


The designer will seek approval from the client prior to undertaking any additional chargeable work.

6. Budget Disclaimer

The designer cannot guarantee that actual prices for materials, finishes, appliances, fixtures, joinery or other interior installations will not vary from the client’s proposed budget, either by item or in total. All pricing provided by suppliers or trades is subject to change and the final cost of goods and services is the responsibility of the client in coordination with their selected builder or contractor.

7. Quote Validity

Any quotes provided by Joind Design Studio are valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. After this period, a new quote may need to be issued and prices may be subject to change.

The quote provided is for design services only. It does not include the cost of any products or services required to carry out the specified works (such as cabinetry, hardware, appliances, trades, or materials). These costs are the responsibility of the client and/or their selected builder or tradespeople.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time by providing written notice. Upon termination, the client agrees to pay for:

  • All design work completed up to the date of termination.

  • Any expenses incurred or materials ordered on behalf of the project (if applicable).

The initial deposit is non-refundable, even in the event of termination by the client. If the client wishes to terminate after work has commenced, the designer will provide a final invoice reflecting the portion of work completed.

All intellectual property rights and design documentation remain the property of the designer unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If Joind Design Studio cancels the project due to unforeseen circumstances, the deposit will be refundedless any work completed up until that point.

9. Design Ownership and Intellectual Property

All concepts, drawingsspecifications and any designs prepared by the designer, including project documentation, remain the property of the designer at all times. The client acknowledges that these materials, including copyrights and other proprietary rights, are protected by law and cannot be used for any purpose other than the completion of the project as outlined in this agreement.

The client is not authorised to use, reproduce, distribute, or modify any designs or documents for any other purpose without the express written consent of the designer.

10. Design Scope and Limitations

The Designer’s drawings and specifications are conceptual in nature and intended for design intent only. They are not to be used for architectural or engineering purposes. The designer does not provide architectural or engineering services as part of this agreement. If architectural or engineering services are required, the client is responsible for engaging the appropriate professionals.

11. Limitation of Liability

Joind Design Studio will not be held liable for any delays in the project timeline or completion caused by circumstances outside the designer's control. This includes delays from third-party suppliers, contractors, builders, or any unforeseen events such as material shortages, shipping delays, client delays in providing information or approvals or scheduling conflicts. Such delays will not hold the designer accountable for any additional costs, penalties, or damages resulting from the delay.

Furthermore, the designer is not liable for any damages, losses, or issues arising from the implementation, construction, or installation of the design, or from any materials used by the client or contractors.

12. Construction Responsibility

1. The builder and/or contractor engaged by the client is responsible for the supervision of all construction works during the build phase. It is the responsibility of the builder/contractor to ensure all works are completed in accordance with relevant building codes, standards and under the provisions of the relevant Building Act. The builder/contractor warrants that the completed works will be fit for purpose.

2. The designer (Joind Design Studio) does not supervise the construction or installation of the design, nor does the designer provide supervision or project management services as part of this agreement. All construction queries, site coordination and compliance are the responsibility of the client’s chosen builder or trades.

3. Where variations to the design are undertaken without consultation with the designer, the designer cannot guarantee that the design outcome will be as originally intended or that it will meet the client’s requirements. Any changes made independently are done so at the client's own risk.

4. Where natural materials have been selected for a project, the client acknowledges that they may change in appearance or dimension over time due to climatic conditions and use, and that this is a normal characteristic of such materials.

5. The Designer does not guarantee the final appearance, dimensions, or consistency of colour and/or texture of any natural materials once approved by the client. Variations may occur and are considered part of the unique nature of natural materials.

13. Dispute Resolution

In the event of any dispute arising from this agreement, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through informal negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved, the parties may consider mediation or legal proceedings in Melbourne, Victoria.

14. Additional Terms

  • Working with third-party suppliers: Joind Design Studio can recommend but will not directly coordinate with suppliers or trades.

  • Third-Party Contractors: The client acknowledges that they are responsible for selecting and managing builders, tradespeople and other contractors.

  • Warranty: Joind Design Studio does not provide a warranty on the quality or construction of any joinery built from the designs provided.

  • Business Hours: We are open from 730am – 5pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday 8am- 12pm or by appointment (excluding public holidays). We may not be contactable or respond to queries outside of these hours.

  • Design Portfolio Use: Joind Design Studio reserves the right to take photos of completed designs and/or final built outcomes and to publish them for marketing purposes, including use on our website, social media and portfolio. If there are privacy concerns, please notify us in writing.
